Architectural glass is not just for shower doors anymore. Back painted glass such as Soda Glass now introduces an endless array of color choices in areas you probably never considered before. Painted glass can be used in the kitchen for back splashes, refrigerators or cabinet door panels. In the bathroom, colored glass can be used as vanity tops, shower walls or even as glass walls for room separation. At work, glass can be used for retail displays, office and lobby walls, and even elevators.
When applying glass to walls or horizontal surfaces you can use solid colored glass or designs that are similar to glass tile. You can dream up your own colors or match the color codes of most leading paint manufacturers such as Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, and Kelly Moore just to name a few.
Soda Glass coated with Glasskote makes it long wearing and nonporous. Since there is no grout to apply, clean up is quick and easy. The standard sheets of coated glass come in dimensions of 84″ by 130″. Thus, the end result of your project is sure to have few if any seams. This glass comes in several thicknesses from 1/8″ to 1″ (in 1/8″ increments). When used as countertops, the edges can be beveled, bull nosed, mitered or chipped. The edges can also be pencil-polished or flat-polished.
